Notes:

As a successor to the Excelsior class, the StarKnight class Federation vessel was created in answer to the Federation's increased need for starships that could operate for longer periods of time in deep space, and retain a solid StarFleet presence near distant borders. Currently, the USS Felix is the only StarKnight vessel in service, and as such, a prototype, but not a true prototype. The first StarKnight class vessel built by StarFleet was the USS StarKnight—which was destroyed in an accident at Garden City, Jupiter in 2370. The Felix is a second prototype; an updated design of the original StarKnight concept, and has—since it's construction in 2371—served as a benchmark of Federation ship design for future classes. The StarKnight Class vessel has been dubbed "The Great Experiment--II" in light of it's implementation of Transwarp technology, the persuit of which was discontinued after the faulures of the USS Excelsior. Although officially classified with the vague label "Enhanced Deterrence Explorer," the Felix is actually a warcruiser augented with an impressive weapons armament, including the newly developed Graviton Distortion Wave device.
