Background:

Cyber is the younger of twin daughters born to the Hare family on Earth. Her parents were Matthias, a leading researcher in positronic technology, and Anne Marie, a prominent geologist. When the girls were about three years old, her mother accepted an offer to study geologic activity at the science colony on Omicron Theta. The family relocated. When the girls were old enough, Anne Marie allowed them to accompany her on field trips to the caverns below the colony.

When the girls were about thirteen years old, they were on such a field trip when a freak cave-in left them buried in rubble for several hours. When their frantic parents were finally able to dig them out, the girls were gravely injured. In an effort to save the children, the colony's medical personnel (with the assistance of Matthias' research) resorted to a radical procedure, using positronic and cybernetic components to repair the damage to the girls' brains and bodies.

In 2365, the girls left home--Cyber to attend Starfleet Academy, Nettrina to explore the universe on her own. A few weeks later, word came that Nettrina's ship had vanished. All hands were presumed lost. Cyber went home to comfort her parents, returning to the academy later that year.

She met the future Captain Xavier toward the end of his assignment on the USS CAIRO.

Character Notes:

Very bright. Able to process information and make calculations at a speed beyond that of normal Terrans. Has a sometimes short attention span, an often embarrassing habit of speaking her mind before thinking her comments through, and a weakness for Earth "junk food." Despite her quick mind and reflexes, she is an atrocious pilot, so much so that the academy only allowed her to graduate with the stipulation that she never be allowed near the helm controls of ANY ship. Keeps in touch with her family on a regular basis, but doesn't care to talk about her sister to anyone else. Is very serious and hardworking when on duty. Off-duty, she has a quirky sense of humor and enjoys 20th/21st-century Earth fiction.
