Background:
The second born daughter of Willow and Laddire O'Donnel, Krystal was born in her family's ancestral home of Scotland, however, has spent most of her life aboard starships of the UFP. Her father was an engineering officer, and her mother a pediatrics doctor in Starfleet. Her life was a normal one for a girl who was the daughter of Starfleet officers. Because of reforms in assignments in the past decades, she was moved about rarely to keep her sense of home just as many other families. The O'Donnels settled aboard the USS Galaxy when she was a pre-teen, her father assigned as chief engineer and mother the chief medical officer. There she met and befriended the first born son of Captain Micheal McLoude, Chaser.
Krystal was fascinated with the medical sciences when she reached the equivalent of middle school. From that point on, she began focusing her studies towards applying for the College of Medical Sciences at Starfleet Academy. Three months before her 17th birthday she took the required tests for admittance to the SACMS. She received her appointment, and eagerly boarded the USS Potemkin to take her back to Earth and the academy.
At the Academy, Krystal displayed no inclination towards leadership functions. her entire focus was completing the medical sciences program. While dedicated to her studies, Krystal did not neglect a personal life, and continued the relationship she had garnered with Chaser McLoude. Their sophomore year, at the cadets ball, Chaser proposed and Krystal accepted.
Krystal graduated third in her class overall, no Red Squadron standing. She did not believe in the organization, and thought it quite elitist and unnecessary, especially for those enrolled in the CMS. However, because of her standings, and the fact of being a MD, Krystal was given the rank of lieutenant (j.g.) upon graduation, and her choice of assignments to perform her internship. To stay with her new husband, whom she had married the week after graduation, Krystal chose the USS Oriskany as her assignment.
The couple have settled in to their routines as crew members aboard the starship, Krystal having earned a promotion to full lieutenant as one of Dr. Rikes' assistants. Just recently, they discovered they are expecting their first daughter, who they have chosen to name Sarah Michelle.

Character Notes:
Krystal is quite typical of most medical professionals. She is exact, demanding of others around her of excellence, however, like most doctors, she does not demand of others anything she does not demand of herself. She does not, at the moment know what she wants her specialty to be, though, she is leaning towards general surgery.
She is also fiercely loyal to her husband. She does not like at times that he is one of the most dangerous of occupations currently in Starfleet. However, it is what he has chosen, and she supports him completely. Krystal is ecstatic about the prospect of being a mother, and is already reading all she can on maternal care, this situation may make her change her focus on her specialty.
