Background:

Kytlar D'harn was a promising, though shy, young mechanical engineer at the Corellian Orbital Shipyards when she first heard of the DEATH STAR attacks by the Empire on the Rebel Alliance. While she had personally taken a neutral stance concerning the conflict, despite the Corellian Diktat’s pro Imperial position, these atrocities drove her own conscience to the forefront. She could no longer ignore what went on around her and simply go on being a good Imperial citizen. Kytlar gathered a group of her closest friends, people she knew she could trust (among which were some of the Empire's most promising engineering and computer programming students) and coordinated a small defection to the Alliance. The motley group of students stole an aging transport vessel and made their escape with little difficulty. No one expected the bunch of young programmers and engineers to simply up and vanish with no warning. After some initial difficulties, the students managed to make contact with a rebel cell on Dubrillion. Once they passed the tests and succeeded in convincing the rebels there that they were not spies and sincerely wanted to join, they were welcomed. Now part of the Alliance, in a faction led specifically by Sir Chauv of Feno, the group splintered to avoid the tracing of their actions. The appropriate computer files disappeared or were altered to protect the defectors.

Kytlar herself requested a relatively low profile job in the Rebel ranks so as to keep the Imperial hounds off her back. Her passion revolved around fixing Starfighter craft and similar ships, so a mechanic’s job was a perfect fit. She has spent several years as a grease monkey, and enjoys her job tremendously, especially since it puts her conscience at ease. Since the disaster at Imatia and Daktia, Kytlar is one of the few surviving and free Green Berets left. Her job currently has her servicing the starfighters aboard Admiral Ackbar's own flagship. She has also taken youngster Kim Amethyst under her wing.

Character Notes:

No longer a shy, gawky student, Kytlar is a steady character, resolute in her decisions. While she will never command battalions, she is a competent technician and knows how to give orders when then need to be given. When it comes to fixing starships, her attitude is no-nonsense until the job is finished. She brooks no whining or backtalk from her team, but does possess a somewhat dry sense of humor. When pressed, she tends to speak bluntly and with a high degree of acidity. She is tolerant of practical jokes when off duty, but unlikely to participate in them willingly. It has been observed that when she is very tired or loses concentration, she can be something of a klutz. On a whole, Kytlar is content with her rank and duties.

Episode II Notes:

Kytlar left the rebellion after the disaster at Daktia, taking Kim with her. The deaths of so many friends and compatriots weighed heavily on her. Looking instead for work that would not involve her in the war, she travelled to Bothawui with her charge and found a job at Fen'yri's Used Ship and Parts yard. Kytlar and Kim stayed there for roughly two years before being attracted to work aboard the shorthanded independent transport JAVELIN, bound for the Rift and Federation space, and desperately in need of experienced mechanics. Kytlar dies in Chapter I of Episode II, killed by the Jedi Hunter saboteur aboard the JAVELIN as she tried to repair the damaged reactor.
