Mon Calamari

The term Mon Calamari refers to both an anthroid race and a planet. A Mon Calamari admiral was responsible for leading the Rebel fleet against the Galactic Empire at Endor, and his fleet was badly massacred as a result. In retaliation for the Mon Calamari interfering with the Empire and committing "terrorist acts" against it, the Mon Calamari homeworld was utterly destroyed by the Imperial fleet, split into thousands of chunks.

In 1800 J.A., a new Mon Calamari admiral named Sonchu Ackbar emerged to lead the remaining Rebels against the Empire once more, this time with the aid of the Amazons and their empress, Violet Vortex. When the Amazons withdrew from the conflict, what remained of Sonchu's fleet and his hidden bases scattered in the surviving chunks of the Mon Calamari homeworld were both destroyed.

The Mon Calamari who survived this second Imperial encounter were all imprisoned in the Hoth Penal Colony.
