Background:
Bosun, or 'Master Chief' Kavee is the the son of a mining foreman, and nurse in the major Brikar City of Tabir. Always bored with his planet's primary mining job structure. He was not given much chance at a different life however till a Starfleet vessel arrived and began diplomatic relations with Brikar (which later joined the Federation). On his thirteenth name day, the young Kavee traveled to Sigma Draconis to begin his career as a Starfleet enlisted fur.
Kavee began his career as a pilot specialist, but soon found his true calling in the tactical department. He requested, and was given permission to change his rating from Pilots' Mate to Gunnery Mate. His massive size made him very imposing and soon received assignments as members of 'tactical teams' away teams sent on hazardous situations. He served with distinction during the Cardassian Wars, being wounded several times in battle. He is a recipient of the Federation Star of Valor for his participation in the Battle of Gelkos III.
After the Cardassian Wars, Kavee served first as a tactical NCO aboard the USS Agamemnon where he first met a young teen named Michael McLoude. The massive Kodiak bear intimidated the teen at first but soon the young canine came to respect the fur greatly as he was one of those that helped tutor him for his acceptance exams to Starfleet Academy.
After his tour aboard the Agamemnon, Kavee was promoted to Master Chief and assigned to Starfleet Academy as an instructor in the survival courses required for all first year students. There again he came into contact with now Cadet McLoude as one of his students, and 'beat, pulped and completely dragged him to a passing grade' as the canine later confesses. He also served as the Master At Arms of the Cadre for the Academy, the chief security position. He served in this position with distinction for several years, and an entire generation of Starfleet officers ow their training in survival tactics to him.
After his tour with the Academy came to an end, Kavee almost chose to retire from a very profitable and rewarding career when now Captain Michael McLoude requested him as his bosun aboard his brand new command, the USS Galaxy. Kavee accepted and has served in the position since the Galaxy was first commissioned.

Character Notes:
The bosun is a Brikar, and like all from that high density world, is forced to wear a gravity compensator on his uniform belt to operate in the 'Light-Grav' environments of Starfleet vessels.
He is also a career enlisted fur, one of the great keepers of the traditions of Starfleet. He sees his job as taking young officers he feels worth of greater things under his paws and shepherding them to greater things. He has performed this function with several officers aboard the Galaxy. He also acts as a conduit between Captain McLoude and the enlisted furs of his command.
Kavee also shares his captain's dislike for the Cardassians. However, while Captain McLoude's comes from one incident, Kavee's comes from the fact that he served in the Cardassian Wars, and saw their atrocities first hand. He has never trusted any of the Union's protestations or peace overtures.
