Background:
T'Lai of Vulcan spent her early years with her parents and sibling, Varek, in Tar'Hana city on Vulcan. At 7 she was bonded to Sov, the child of colleagues of her parents. She was educated on Vulcan until she was 12, when her parents moved to Earth. Her mother, a diplomat, worked at the Vulcan embassy in Paris, her father at the University of Paris, Pierre et Marie Curie campus. She excelled at her studies of bio-sciences and was taking classes with the university students to supplement the teaching she was receiving at the Embassy school. At 18 she returned to Vulcan to continue her studies in the sciences.
She completed her degrees at the Vulcan Science Academy, finishing near the top of her class, and conducted research there for a number of years, until she decided to enter Starfleet in her 40th year. She applied and was accepted to Starfleet academy. She completed her training and entered the service at 44. She returned to Vulcan to wed her betrothed at 47. He followed her into Starfleet as an Engineer. She attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander and chose to hold that position, declining to join the command track of Starfleet at that time. At 55, she and her husband decided to take a leave of absence from Starfleet to have a family. Both found employment at the Vulcan Science Academy in the capital city. She had two children, T'Siara and Kovek.
When her children entered their secondary education, she and her husband rejoined Starfleet at the age of 75. After time spent in San Francisco reacquainting themselves with Starfleet, the pair were once again posted to science vessels at their former ranks. T'Lai decided to pursue the command track and was given her first command at 79, the science vessel Saggitarius. She held that command until she was given her current command, the Intrepid class Athena.

T'Lai is, at her heart, a scientist.
Her area of expertise is Xenobiology, but she is well versed in many areas of biology.
T'Lai has a *very* dry sense of humor.
T'Lai finds French pastries to be illogically agreeable as a result of her time in Paris, and prefers the French Impressionist painters, particularly Monet.
While T'Lai and her mate are both Sehlats, they are both vegetarian.
T'Lai finds many of the officers and crewfurs under her command to be very illogical creatures, but believes that she sets a good example for the more emotional ones, and values their contributions even if she finds their personalities to be erratic.
